Home Sweet Home

Lauren and I have been doing a long apartment hunt! Boy! Brattleboro is so small and do not have great houses. We needed a place that have washer/dryer hookup because we got new w/d last spring. Brattleboro do not have lots of w/d hookup, most of them use the laundromat all the time. We found a nice Victoria house and was under renovation. The landlord was so strange! He offered us the first floor, the landlord lives on the 2nd floor, and a man lives on the third floor. In order to get that place, we must share our washer/dryer with them. NO THANKS!! We never got back to him again!

Two weeks ago, we went to work and we were reading the Brattleboro Reformer newspaper and searched in the classifieds section for any available apartment. We spotted an advertisement about a new, clean, bright apt, very private 15 acres, 1 bedroom with loft, basement , wd hookup, plenty of parking, and it was in Newfane about 20 mins away from work. Lauren called them immediately and we went over on Friday night to check it out. It was really nice and private with tv room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, big basement (wood stove), and loft in the attic. Saturday early morning, Lauren called the landlord and asked us to meet them next Saturday. We had to wait for the next weekend argh!. We really want this place badly!

The next Saturday, it was a nice cool morning and we went to see the landlord. Wow, it was a big property, quiet, and woods around the area because our first visit was at night time. The landlord was very friendly & loves to talk! We took another tour of the apartment and they even have trials in the woods. There were several people interested in this place and we had to work our ass off to get it. They asked us a lot of questions and looked really interested. They would return a call on Monday. We were very nervous about it! Jeez! The apartment is a duplex house and the landlord lives next door. They are never there and they are usually at their other home in New York.

Monday afternoon at 2pm, we got a phone call from the landlord and they have picked us. We were really thrilled! We really want to get out of the temporary apt at Austine School.

I will definitely take picture of the place and post it. That is when I will ever find my DAMN battery charger! :)

Canada Thanksgiving!

When was the last time I was home in Canada?

It has been since New Years! I am finally coming home for Canada Thanksgiving from October 7th to October 10th. I am really looking forward in seeing my family and been so long away from Canada! *sighs* The airplane tickets has increased and decided to drive instead. Hope for a good flight deal for the Christmas holiday.

I used to check The Toronto Star online everyday, right now I am really behind since moving to Vermont! I gonna catch up. Canadian folks, is there anything new?

White Water Rafting Weekend

What a long traveling weekend! On Friday September 9th, Lauren and I left Brattleboro for Bunganut Lake Camp in Alfred Maine to meet Lauren's family. I left Alfred with Lauren's dad and brother while Lauren, her sister, and her mother stayed at the campground. The men headed for The Forks in Maine and the drive was very calm and peaceful. We finally arrived to Lake Moxie Camp (Moxie Outdoor Adventures) and camped overnight. It was really cold and stayed in a 4 bunk bed camp. We stayed closely by the fire and had enough beers to stay warm!

The next morning, we had breakfast and got ready to go White Water Rafting along Kennebec River. We got our equipment and got on a crap bus for Kennebec River. Finally, we arrived to get our raft and did some practice before heading to the rapid river. We arrived to the water and the big dam was just right there pushing the water like crazy. We finally got on the boat and raced down big waves and getting all wet. The next two hours was really rough and later the water started to ease down. We stopped by at an island along the river for lunch and got back rafting again, but the water was very mellow and went swimming.

We arrived to the end of the trip and headed back to Lake Moxie Camp to have dinner and some drinks. We headed to a bar nearby and it was really neat, had several drinks, I was so cold and wasted.

On Sunday morning, we all got up and left Lake Moxie for Bunganut Lake Camp to meet the ladies. It was another long road trip day for me and Lauren back to Brattleboro. The weekend was really good and want to go back White Water Rafting again. Whoever have never went white water rafting before is recommended!

Briefing of Austine School

The name of the school "Austine" was named after Colonel William Austine who was a retired army officer. He opened the school for the Deaf & Blind students in the Fall of 1912 in Brattleboro, VT.

Holton Hall is the orginial building (now a historic landmark) was used for homes to students who lived far away from home. When the student population increased they had to build more facilities.

Austine School is now known for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing. Now Austine School is under Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for more services such as consultant services for mainstreamed students, several regional classrooms, parent-infant program, family mentoring program, adult service, and several other support options. Vermont Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides an array of quality services to Deaf and hard of hearing children, youth and adults statewide.

More pictures will be posted whenever I find the battery charger for my digital camera.

Lauren and the Green Mountain behind is Hillsdale, NH.

Weekend in Framingham

On Friday, we drove down to Framingham and went to Ken's Steakhouse. It was really delicious and expensive, we have seen that restaurant for 2 years and finally went there. We went to Barnes and Noble to look at books, of course I did not get any, but Lauren got 3 new books written by Dean Koontz. I bought a game related to the States, Captials, and Nickname. When we arrived to the apartment, we played the game and had fun. We had to sleep on the floor and it was so HARD!

The next morning, my neck and head were killing me after a lousy sleep. Lauren was groaning with a stiff back! I went out to Walden School to visit a student to say good bye. After that, I went to AMF bowling with Lauren and a bunch of friends from Walden School. We had fun playing three games of bowling and then Loren, Jenna, Lauren, and I went to IHOP for lunch. Lauren and I had to go back to the apartment to put the hard top on Lauren's jeep and clean up the apartment. Cleaning up was a lot of work and a pain in the ass, that is in order to get our security deposit back! Grr! Finally we were done after total of two days cleaning up! We closed up our apartment for the last time... we both miss it already. We packed up the jeep and it was TOO full and there was no more room for us to fit in! Lauren told me to bring two cars, but i thought everything would fit in one just fine... I was wrong. The jeep was so crowded and lauren had to sit with her legs up holding a backpack anda box full of dishes. I was so close to the pedals that my knees were touching the dashboard. It was hell driving like that for two hours. When we finally arrived to Austine School, we were knocked out cold!

Overall, the weekend was fun bowling with friends and definitely will miss them. We plan to come back and visit often since it is only two hours away. Depending on the gas price! Jeez!
